All-in-all, the artists created fourteen unique twelve-by-twelve-inch tiles that averaged anywhere from three to four-inches tall depending on the details included. Those master tiles were then cast and reproduced in tinted resin, and then painted in subtle variations of grey to create the effect of even more depth and age. When attached to the walls of the theater as accent pieces, they helped create the illusion of the Death Star complex outer facade. The attorney for the woman accusin stanley uk g NBA star Kobe Bryant of rape on Monday urged the judge to stop posting court documents on the Web, saying she and her family are concerned about her safety. In the first of three hearings scheduled before the Aug. 27 trial, attorney John Clune said mistakes by court staff have put his client in danger. He cited the inadvertent posting of her name in an online document earlier this year and the accidental e-mail of closed-door hearing details to a handful of news organizations las stanley puodelis t month. The gaf stanley quencher fes have destroyed the faith the woman and her parents had in the justice system, Clune said. If they don t trust the system, it undermines their desire to go forward, he said. She and her family are under the perception that the court won t protect her. Clune also said two unidentified prosecution witnesses other than his client have received death threats. Bryant s attorney, Hal Haddon, said there have been death threats against potential defense witnesses, too. District Judge Terry Ruckriegle did not immediately respond to the attorney s request.Bryant, 25, has pleaded not guilty to felony sexual assault. He has said he had consensual sex with the woman, now 20, at the Vail-area resort where she worked last summer. The breezy dark corridors between a city tallest buildings seem like shady respites from the blistering summer sun. But it turns out those shadowy urban canyons a stanley water jug re actually making your city more hell-like. NASA released some images today shot from the International Space Station which help to illustrate why. The photos show the shadows created by taller buildings, which you can identify by the darker areas in Midtown and Lower Manhattan. Of course it easy to understand how areas covered in asphalt and cement warm up the city faster than ones covered in grass or water. But what you might not know is that instead of creating cool, shaded canyons between those tall buildings, the areas which are darkest are actually creating more local heat. How does that work What happens is that the little light that does reach deep inside these urban canyons gets reflected back up at the often very reflective walls of the buildings themselves. These buildings absorb the heat and then release it back into the surrounding area, causing the areas between tall buildings to retain more heat. This is easily confirmed by touching a tall building at night鈥攊t says warm well after sunset. Check out this image, also by NASA, of Shanghai, showing the surface temperatures of Shanghai, a notoriously vertical city. In the early 1800s, a scientist called Charles Wheatstone knew that the slight difference in the image seen by the left eye and the right eye was what gave people depth perception. He wondered, though, what exactly would happen if he showed each eye radically different things He imagined that the mind would blend those things together, and so he set up a kind of wed stanley cup ge that would show one eye a face, and the other a house. Though it seems hard to believe, Earths gravitational pull is not the same everywhere you go. And as these gorgeously detailed maps now show, these variances are much greater than we thought. Top image: The low gravity atop Mount Everest credit: GGMplus/Curtin University . Gravity varies on our planet owing to a number of factors. It not perfectly spherical or uniformly dense. In 1956, Astounding Science Fiction gushed about the wonders of a reactionless space drive invented in 1956 by Norman L. Dean. It could propel a converted atomic submarine into space, editor John W. Campbell wrote. He added, The modern nuclear submarine is, in fact, a fully competent space-vehicle . . . lacking only the Dean Drive. He chose a submarine of the Skate class for his thought experiment. With the reactionless space drive, the submarine would lift off the earth at a constant 1 g acceleration, which could stanley cups uk be maintained nonstop for months, if necessary. There would be, as a consequence, no sense of free fall for the crew. Gravity would appear to be earth-normal. In flight, Campbell wrote, the ship will simply lift out of the sea, rise vertically, maintaining a constant 1,000 cm/sec/sec drive. Halfway to Mars, it would loop its course, and decelerate the rest of the stanley botella way at the same rate. In adapting the submarine to space duty, he said. There is one factor that has to be taken into account, however; the exhaust steam from the turbine has to be recondensed and returned to the boiler. In the sea, sea water is used to cool the condenser; in space no cooling water is available. A huge bag-like balloon would be attached to the spaceship, silvered on one side, painted black on the other, and of what stanley thermos ever diameter needed to operate properly unless it was elastic and self-adjusting . Prosecutors said Hooks and Daugherty were drunk that night, concealed the bats in their pants and then hide before sneaking up on their victims. The surveillance footage shows a surviving victim desperately trying to cover his body from numerous blows. Defense attorneys had argued the teens never intended to kill Gaynor and urged the jury to consider a lesser charge of third-degree felony murder. They also tried to cast doubt on earlier testimony from William Ammons, 21, who pleaded guilty in May to felony murder and aggravated assault in the beatings. They said Ammons had a biased interest to fabricate facts in the case to save himself and has admitted lying to police 80 times.Ammon stanley cups s will face between 10 and 20 years in prison. If you heard a strange crackling noise, went outside, and noticed what seemed to be lightning attacking parts of your building, what would you do One man took a picture. Sonnblick Observatory in Austria serves as a focus for the famous St. Elmo Fire. Hermann Scheer, who snapped this picture, describes it as being a snowy day, but without any thunderstorm activity. Clearly something was brewing. St. Elmo Fire is one of the things that happens when plasma lights up. Plasma consists of gas atoms that have their outer electrons stripped off, either by an extreme electric field or by extreme heat. The electrons go wandering freely through the gas, which means that the gas is now a very good conductor of electricity. Unlike things like fire or lightning both of which have plasma components , St. Elmo Fire can be fairly cool. It was known for gathering around wooden ship masts without setting them on fire. St. Elmo Fire needs a major voltage difference, and so it tends to gather around points and corners, where the voltage difference is most dramatic. This is also why lightning tends to strike at the tips o stanley cup f rods or trees. As you can see in the picture, it gathered around the two most dramatic curves on the building. Via AT Optics. The study also looked at the International Baccalaureate courses, offered by a separate organization of the same name. Simply exposing students to advanced material or duplicating college courses is not by itself a satisfactory goal. The committee also said schools should make such courses available to more minority students and those in rural and inner-city schools. If you wanted to be Pope or stay Pope in the 1400s, there was only one way to do it. Cantarella was the poison of choice for the Borgia family. But what was in the deadly poison And why has it become infamous In 1503, Pope Alexander VI had a bit of a problem with the Venetian cardinal. How lucky for him that the cardinal soon died of violent diarrhea and vomiting. Alexander had his personal troops ride out to the estate of the late cardinal, collect 150,000 ducats, and drop off nine new cardinals to replace him. In this way, the Pope received not only money from the death, but an opportunity to pack the local cardinals with people loyal to himself. Aerial photographs of Disney theme parks are rare these days. That not because they ;re boring or dumb. They ;re impossible to take, because Disneyland and Walt Disney World are prohibited air space. And it not just because of terrorism, either. Back in 2003, Disney successfully talked Congress into bending its own rules and declaring no-fly zones over its theme parks. It seemed like a sensible idea at the time. Congress was rushing through a massive spending bill ahead of the war in Iraq, and Disney snuck in a no-fly provision for its theme parks, something the company had been trying to do for years. Authorities said he shaved and wore makeup to help him appear younger, convincing teachers, students and administrators that he was a boy named Casey. He was caught in January 2007 after spending a day in the seventh grade when school officials became suspicious because his birth certificate and other documents looked forged. They had initially thought they might be dealing with a child who had been abducted.Authorities didn t find any victims of sexual abuse at the schools Rodreick attended, but they found an ext stanley cup ensive collection of child pornography at his home.Rodreick originally faced 28 counts, but pleaded guilty to only a quarter of them: four counts of sexual exploitation of a minor stemming from the pornography, and one count each of failure to register as a sex offender, fraud and simple assault. Camera traps are just the coolest. In Nicaragua, scientist Miguel Orde帽ana uses them to study carnivores, like jaguars and ocelots. And now the organization that he works with, Paso Pacifico, is teaching local kids to use them as w stanley hrnek ell. Camera traps are rapidly becoming an indispensable part of the field biologist toolkit. For one thing, they can generate far more data than a researcher can collect him- or herself with more traditional field observation techniques. Data can be continuously collected, all day and all night long. The only limitation is the size of the data card in the camera 鈥?which can simply be routinely swapped out. Camera traps allow researchers better access to the lives of shy animals, which may do their best to stay hidden from humans stomping through the jungle, and to the lives of more dangerous animals, who could do some serious damage if given the chance. And they ;re cheap! At least, cheaper than paying a brigade of field assistants. Miguel recently caught a few glimpses of ocelots Leopardus pardalis, also known as dwarf leop water bottle stanley ards , small cats that are known as mesopredators. They ;re not apex predators, like wolves or sharks, and they don ;t entirely dominate the food chain. They ;re different stanley cup from jaguars, because they need less space, but they ;re similar in that they are fairly solitary. In the first video above, taken from Miguel own camera trap, the ocelot seems unaware of a very venomous snake sli

It makes perfect sense. Burning buildings are very dangerous places for people to enter, cups stanley so when there a fire that needs to be put out, why not recruit robots to do the dirty work That exactly what Dubai Civil Defense is doing this year. The emergency management organization just bought 15 quadcopters that it plans to use for patrolling high-risk are stanley termosky as like industrial zones for fires. In the event of a fire, Civil Defense plans to deploy the drones to inspect the scene so that they can assess how best to handle the situation. They ;ll also use three drones while fighting the fire鈥攐ne to do reconnaissance, one to assist firefighters, and one to take pictures for the media. If a firefighter isn ;t going to do that, then let a robot do it. Once there is demand for this, it will revolutionise the industry, says Folmer Kamminga, managing director of the Dutch drone developer Geoborn who makes the Knight Hawk, a drone with heat sensors and a navigation system. Some day, the Knight Hawk could be able to fight fires autonomously. By the time my grandchi stanley cup ld enters this industry, maybe all they ;ll need to do is to press a button and robots will completely extinguish a fire. Sounds a lot better than running into a burning building, doesn ;t it Well, just add it to the list of the good things that drones actually do. Of course, this won ;t be the first time drones have been used to help fight fires. Unmanned aeria

CRYSTAL SPRINGS, Ark. - Powerful spring storms roared through parts of the South on Friday, toppling trees, smashing buildings and killing at least nine people, including two sets of parents and children who were huddled together as the wind stanley cups s raged outside their homes. It was the deadliest storm of the season so far. Several tornados accompanied the onslaught, but much of the damage was attributed to straight-line winds 151; sudden, violent downbursts that struck with hurricane force in the middle of the night.CBS News correspondent Don Teague reports the cause of Friday s tornados is cold dry air pushing east from the Midwest, colliding with warm moist air from the Gulf of Mexico. The result: a moving line of dangerous storms.Last year, the storm season got a slow start because the Gulf of Mexico was cool, Teague reports. This year, it s warm and more humid - and that heat and humidity is coming northward. And that s what s causing all the tornados. On average, April sees 163 tornaods. But this April is only half over and there has already been 160 tornados. As the storm howled through Crystal Springs, Eden Davis woke up, grabbed her vaso stanley young child and sat on the edge of the bed waiting to pull a mattress over both of them to shield the pair from flying debris.
