The deaths of seven thoroughbred horses in the days leading up to the Kentucky Derby overshadowed the race at Churchill Downs this spring. After the event, five more horses died. Then late this summer, during a race at another famous track in Saratoga Springs, New York, the horse in the lead, Maple Leaf Mel, suddenly stumbled to the ground just a few feet from the finish line. The injury to the horses right leg was so grave that handlers had to euthanize her right away in front of crowds gathered in the grandstands. A class-action lawsuit has been filed against a Georgia chemical plant and its parent company, alleging their negligent safety procedures led to a fire and an ensuing plume of chemical smoke that has upended the lives of nearly 100,000 residents who now fear for their health and the habitability of their neighborhoods. On Sunday, a fire broke out on the roof of the BioLab facility in Conyers, Georgia, triggering a malfunctioning sprinkler head and causing water to interact with a water-reactive chemical housed at the plant, Rockdale County Fire Chief Marian McDaniel said. This sent a large cloud of dark smoke stanley quencher into the atmosphere that could be seen and even smelled for miles, with residents of both Rockdale County and neighboring communities reporting scents of strong chemicals and a heavy haze that s continued to create low visibility as far as Atlanta as of Wednesday. Public health workers have been on the front lines of it all, from the pandemic, mass shootings, racial injustice and intense natural disasters.New data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention shows the toll that is taking on their mental health. stanley taza In 2021, more than half reported symptoms of stanley thermos mug depression, anxiety, PTSD and thoughts of suicide. That improved slightly this year, but 75% still feel like their employer hasn t done anything to increase mental health support, and about half are considering leaving their job in the next five years. And so this mental health crisis is only going to get worse as people are more and more burnt out and stressed and not able to deal with the workload in front of them, which is trying to keep our communities healthy, said Lisa Carlson, past president of the American Public Health Association.Workers said having more time off and staff so they re not frequently working 60 hours a week would help. The CDC recommends that employers facilitate access to mental health resources and services. Experts said more consistent funding for public health agencies is needed to prepare them for a crisis.Carlson said support from the community is also crucial. Now we don t have a vaccine for our mental health like we do for our physical health, stanley water bottle Carlson said. LITTLE ROCK, Ark. 鈥?Lisa Dansby Williams loves connecting students in need with mental health resources. It s just been hard for many of the students and their families to navigate some of the resulting issues of the pandemic, whether that be domestic violence within the family, homelessness, maybe mom, dad lost a job, she said. The national recommendation for school counselors is 1 for every 250 students. According to the National Association of School Counselors, only 17.8% of school districts met that requirement. Behind him, giant cranes lifted shipping containers from the deck of a docked cargo ship and deposited them on land. Many shipping companies rerouted their cargo to other ports following the deadly collapse in March. The deadly disaster halted most maritime traffic through Baltimores busy port as crews worked around the clock to clear an estimated 50,000 tons of fallen steel and concrete from the Patapsco River. The estimated cost for the entire salvage operation is $160 million, with federal, state and local agencies involved.Companies that steered clear of Baltimore during the cleanup will likely come back now that the channel has been returned to its original depth and width, officials said. Capturing the recent flooding in Weld County, Colorado, was the reason 18-year-old Josh Logue decided to fly his drone Saturday morning. But little did he know at the time, that decisio stanley cup n may have saved the lives of two people.A man and a woman were trapped inside an upside-down Jeep that had fallen deep into a newly opened sinkhole on a bridge, and it was quickly filling with water stanley cup .The area where the sinkhole opened up is a desolate spot. The road is a lightly traveled gravel road in rural Weld County. The odds of getting help from a passing motorist were not good. But unbeknownst to the two occupants of the Jeep, a teenager at his Weld County home two miles away was about to come to their rescue.Logue was flying his drone and looking at the feed when he saw what he initially thought was a shadow. But upon closer inspection, he saw a very real and life-threatening event. I fly down here and there s a car in the ditch. I m like, in a hole And like, what Logue said.He flew the drone closer to the sinkhole and soon realized there were people trapped inside the upside-down SUV. They had six inches of room of an air pocket in there for them to breathe, he said. But the rest was water. Logue immediately called 911 and gave them the general area of the sinkhole.Ryan Nuanes, Logues neighbor and a Denver firefighter, was at the 18-year-old s house at the time the drone came upon the sinkhole. As the need rises, services are stretched thin. We do have a limited pool of mental health professionals to employ. Some of the main issues are that they are moving to different platforms to provide services. Some have been burnt out themselves by the pandemic and some of the increase of need for services and so that s been a major issue as well, Dansby said. The national recommendation for school counselors is 1 for every 250 students. According to the National Association of School Counselors, only 17.8% of school districts met that requirement. Only 4.2% of urban school districts met it, according to pre-pandemic numbers. We are definitely seeing an increase in the number of students, fa stanley cup milies, and staff, and even administrators that are referring students and families to us, said Alma Lopez, who is a school counselor at a California middle school. But there are ways to save without looking cheap.Over the coming days, millions of other shoppers will buy everything from flower bouquets to hanging baskets to more exotic flowers like orchids.Lindsay Frafsing, owner ofBenken Florist and Garden Center, says with the high price of cut arrangements these days, something mom can plant, like tulips or greens, may make more sense.
