After President Trump announced Tuesday that the U.S. would be leaving the Iran nuclear deal, fulfilling a longtime campaign promise, Iran s supreme leader called the president s decision a mistake. stanley cup CBS News national security analyst and former acting CIA director Michael Morell told CBS This Morning on Wednesday there is a Plan B ndash; it just happens to be very, very risky. The issue is that it is very, very risky to see whether or not that s going to happen, Morell said. One of the high-stakes possibilities following the pullout is whether or not Iran will consider restarting its nuclear program and what countries might follow suit. Earlier this year, Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman of Saudi Arabiatold CBS This Morning co-host Norah O Donnell that if Iran developed a nuclear bomb, his country would do the same. Members of the public, she said, were free to reach their own conclusions about whether Dominion rigged the election against former President Donald Trump, as Powell repeatedly claimed. Determining whether a statement is protected involves a two-step inquiry: Is the statement one which can be proved true or false And would reasonable people conclude that the statement is one of fact, in light of its phrasing, context and the circumstances surrounding its publication, her lawyers told the court. Analyzed under these factors, and even assuming, arguendo, that each of the statements alleged in the complaint could be proved true or false, no reasonable person would conclude that the statements were truly statements of fact. CBS From CBS News Scott Conroy: LAS VEGAS - In the stanley cup days after Sarah Palin was introduced as John McCain s running mate in late August, her stump speeches were peppered with allusions to the historic nature of her candidacy. Sounding upbeat and conciliatory, President Obama met face-to-face with congressional leaders Friday for the first time since a Republican electoral takeover of the Senate upended the political landscape in Washington. He pledged to work on ending long-running partisan gridlock and to be open to Republican ideas even as differences remain stark.Republicans left the White House without public statements, but comments bubbling out later underscored some of those differences.Sen. John Cornyn of Texas said he had spoken out during the lunch against the idea of Mr. Obama acting on his own to ease the deportation threat against some immigrants who are in the U.S. illegally. I made clear to the president that we should tackle immigration reform together on a step-by-step basis, beginning with border security and respect for the rule of law, Cornyn said. SPRINGFIELD, Ill. After months of fierce on-the-ground campaigning and a last-minute urging from President Obama, a measure that would have made Illinois the 13th state to allow same-sex couples to marry fell short Friday when the sponsor failed to rally enough support to call it for a vote before the Legislature adjourned. The bill s sponsor, Democratic Rep. Greg Harris, tearfully explained to his House colleagues that he simply didn t have the needed 60 votes after weeks of furiously lobbying his colleagues, some of whom asked for more time to gauge their constituents support. I ve never been sadder to accept such a request, but I have to keep my eye, as we all must, on the ultimate prize, Harris said, referring to eventual passage. They ve asked for time to go back to their districts, talk to their constituents, and reach out to their minds and hearts. Same-sex marriage supporters, who had packed the House gallery in anticipation of a vote, immediately expressed their frustrations. Their disappointment followed months of arduous lobbying efforts by both gay-rights advocates and opponents, much of it coming from churches. The state Senate approved the measure on Valentine s Day, and Gov. Pat Quinn, a Chicago Democrat, had pledged to sign it into law. Supporters had called the bill a matter of equality and civil rights. Qyvx Vegas Goes All In For Its Lawmaker

So why would you not say those words Taff asked. Well, I don t accept the fact, Brian, that there is a segment of American society that disagrees in the preciousness and importance of every human life, Pence replied. Pence told CBS News Radio earlier this month that he believes racism exists in America as it does everywhere. After President Trump announced Tuesday that the U.S. would be leaving the Iran nuclear deal, fulfilling a longtime campaign promise, Iran s supreme leader called the president s decision a mistake. Critics say the withdrawal leaves the U.S. with no Plan B on Iran. stanley cup CBS News national security analyst and former acting CIA director Michael Morell told CBS This Morning on Wednesday there is a Plan B ndash; it just happens to be very, very risky. There s clear adidas samba ly a Plan B which is put enough pressure on the Iranians, and we re going to need the Europeans to do that. So [National Security Adviser John] Bolton is going to have a conversation with them. Put enough pressure on them to bring them back to the negotiating table and get a better deal. That s the plan. Zelda Perkins, a former assistant to disgraced Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein, spoke to BBC Newsnight on Tuesday, breaking a non-disclosure agreement that she signed two decades ago. Perkins said that she wants gagging laws in the U.K. to be changed. In the 23-minute exchange, available online, Perkins details her time working with Weinstein at Miramax, how she was warned of his reputation before she took the job with him, and how he conducted the bulk of his business in hotel suites. Supporters had called the bill a matter of equality and civil rights. Qyvx Vegas Goes All In For Its Lawmaker

Vice President Mike Pence wouldn t say the words black lives matter when specifically asked stanley cup to say them in an interview with a local ABC affiliate in Philadelphia. The interv stanley cup iew took place on Friday, Juneteenth, which commemorates the end of slavery in the United States. He instead said what happened to George Floyd was a tragedy and said: In this nation, especially on, on Juneteenth, we celebrate the fact that from the founding of this nation, we cherish the ideal that all, all of us a stanley cup re created equal and endowed by our creator with certain inalienable rights. And so all lives matter in a very real sense. Interviewer Brian Taff pressed Pence on why he would not say the words, which have become a nationwide rallying cry against racial injustice and police violence. People are saying, of course, all lives matter. But to say the words is an acknowledgement that black lives also matter in a time in this country when it appears that there s a segment of our society that doesn t agree. So why would you not say those words Taff asked. Well, I don t accept the fact, Brian, that there is a segment of American society that disagrees in the preciousness and importance of every human life, Pence replied. Pence told CBS News Radio earlier this month that he believes racism exists in America as it does everywhere. I acknowledge that there is racism in America, just as there is in every nation, Pence said. Ceop Gwyneth Paltrow ski lawsuit: When skiers collide, who is at fault
HUNTSVILLE, Texas - Kent Sprouse acknowledged almost immediately after he was arrested more than a decade ago that he killed a police officer and another man outside a Dallas-area convenience store.A jury decided in 2004 that he should be put to death, and unsuccessful appeals since then have focused on whether Sprouse, 42, was mentally ill at the time of the slayings in 2002 and should be spared the death penalty. No new appeals are pendin skechers g as Sprouse s lethal injection scheduled for Thursday evening approaches. Steinfeldt, 28, was responding to a 911 call about a customer shot outside the store.Witnesses said Sprouse carried a shotgun into the store the afternoon of Oct. 6, 2002, while he made a purchase and then walked outside and fired tow stanley cup ard two men at a pay phone. You should talk to the Clinton campaign. What I do know is that on the Democratic side, there are many fabulous candidates--people that could be really strong vice presidential candidates. CNN s Brianna Keilar tried to get him to elaborate, saying: That is not a no, sir. That is not a no. That is exactly what it is, Booker responded. It s telling you if you have a question like that, please direct it to the Clinton campaign. Booker s Sunday answer was a shift from mid-June, when he said definitively in an interview that he was not being vetted. Updated 10:23 a.m. ETWorld leaders said Friday that they want to provide $20 billion over the next three years to increase food production in developing countries stanley termosky and help the poor feed themselves. The new goal was a $5 billion increase for an initiative that marks a shift in the global fight against hunger. The leaders meeting in Italy said they wanted to focus less on sending food to the poor and more on helping small farmers in developing countries produce more and better crops.Premier Silvio Berlusconi, the host of the meeting of the Group of Eight and other nations, said that leaders decided to raise the initial goal from $15 billion during talks held with African leaders in the morning. Washington was expected to commit $3 billion, and Paris $2 billion, delegates said, but it was not immediately clear if there were solid commi stanley mug tments for the remaining amount. Asked about his appeal to fellow leaders for the aid, President Obama said he talked about his father, who was born in Kenya. The telling point is when my father traveled to the United States from Kenya to study ... the per capita income of Kenya was higher than South Korea s. Now, Mr. Obama said, South Korea is industrialized and relatively wealthy while Kenya, as well as much of Africa, is still struggling economically. There is no reason why African countries can t do the same and rise out of poverty with modern and open stanley cup institutions, Mr. Obama said. The Un
