I want to thank everyone for being here today and joining my family for such a special and unique occasion. It is a great honour to have my name associated with one of the first major projects I was involved with. The sportsplex was originally planned to be a traditional recreation centre; however, I advocated for significant upgrades to the number of rinks and other facilities that became a model for future projects, Fennell said in statement following councils vote to rename the facility in December 2020.
