But they re going on to the conference and I ll be going to West Virginia ndash; great state ndash; I ll be going there. I ll be going tomorrow and we ll be together but it was a pretty rough hit. That s what they all tell me. A few of the folks. They say it was tough, he added. There were only a few minor injuries reported among the train passengers. CBS/AP The House of Representatives passed a short-term bill today to keep the government running through November 18, 2011. The bill buys time for congressional negotiators to work out a compromise that they hope would fund the government through the 2012 fiscal year and avert another possible government shutdown. The bill, known as a Continuing Resolution, passed the Democratic-led Senate last week. It will keep the government funded at $1.043 trillion levels and includes $2.65 billion in disaster aid for the Federal Emergency Management Agency to distribute to states hit by a record number of disasters this year, including Hurricane Irene, wildfires in Texas and the tor stanley cup nado that hit Joplin, Missouri in May.Those disaster funds were the cause of the latest brin stanley cup ksmanship between the House and Senate, with House Republicans wanting the cost stanley cups uk offset with spending cuts to a government loan program for auto companies to upgrade factories and invest in clean technology. The Senate wanted a higher level of funding at nearly $7 billion and did not want to offset the cost. The agreement was reached only after the House passed its bill and left town for a congressional recess and the Senate passed a compromise bill with less disaster funding, but no offsets. The House was able to pass a short bridge by unanimous consent last Thursday with just three members in the chamber, so the House could pass the com

You drive instead of flying to save money but then you spend it on the overnight accommodations on your way, she said.Gas p stanley cup becher rices aren t exactly helping, either, with prices near their 2024 highs right now. Im not happy with high gas prices, but you gotta pay it, one driver said. How to trim your rental car costsOne way to trim your travel budget is to strategically choose a rental car, rather than simply visiting the website of a major car rental firm and choosing your dates. Skyscanners Laura Lindsay says unlike a flight, where you book months in advance, it pays to wait until about two weeks before your trip to rent a car. The prices tend to drop much, much closer to your departure date, she said.In addition, she says pushing your pickup time just 60 minutes after your flight arrives often means lower prices, especially during peak travel times. It means that you re grabbing a coffee while the queues die down, and then you pick up your car and go st stanley flask raight on your holiday, she said. One reason waiting works now is that the rental car shortages of 2021 and 2022 are long over, meaning renters have more bargaining power. ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- In April, new tenants found someone s ashes in the attic stanley vattenflaska of their St. Petersburg home. They knew it belonged to a veteran but had no substantiating documents, said Lawrence Rivera of the Warrior Care Program. The urn was given to the Warrior Care Program, who researched to find who the veteran was. What they found out shocked them. We had not only a military soldier, but he was a member of the special forces community and the ashes had been lost for almost 10 years, said Rivera. They were able to find that Major Albert Mitchell lived with his brother after retiring from the army and thats how his ashes ended up in the attic. They also learned he had a living daughter in North Carolina, who had lost contact with her uncle and had been looking for her father s ashes for years. When I was contacted it was a relief, said Charleene Mitchell Cox, Albert s daughter. Cox says her father never talked about the war. But thanks to the Warrior Care Program, she now knows that her father was in the special forces, did three tours of combat in Vietnam, and even worked to help other veterans returning from Vietnam. Then the world fell apart: I was hacked.Or at least I would ve been hacked -- if the cyberattack was real. My colleague Graham Kates and I had enlisted the firm Cofense to hack us. Here s what that involved: For two weeks in January we were attacked by a group of professional hackers who targeted our email and social media accounts with malicious messages designed to trick us into handing over sensitive information. The tactic is called spear-phishing and it s one of the most common methods hackers use to breach accounts. The Wisconsin Supreme Court denied the Trump campaign s attempt to bypass lower courts in the state and go directly to the high court with its election challenge. On Thursday, it ruled against the campaign s petition for original action with a 4-3 majority composed of the court s three liberal justices and Justice Brian Hagedorn, a conservative. The Trump campaign had argued that the Wisconsin Supreme Court should hear its case directly because presidential electors will soon be casting their votes on December 14. Scott Applewhite Updated: 7:14 p.m. ETThe House of Representatives on Tuesday passed legislation extending the payroll tax cut, voting 234 to 193 in favor of the bill.Ten Democrats voted for the bill, and 14 Republicans voted against it. Earlier Tuesday, President Obama threatened to veto the bill due to objections over how House Republicans chose to pay for the $180 billion legislation. The Republican-sponsored legislation would extend the payroll tax cut for 160 million workers for another year. It would also extend long-term unemployment benefits -- though with reforms that Democrats have protested -- and prevent a cut in Medicare payments to doctors. Despite a mutual consensus in favor of a payroll tax cut extension, Republicans and Democrats have sparred for weeks over the appropriate way to pay for the legislation. The House Republicans bill does so by extending the current federal worker pay freeze one more year, requiring federal workers to contribute more to their pensions, and charging higher insurance rates for Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac mortgages stanley thermoskannen . Bush, ho stanley deutschland wever, isn t the only candidate employing this fundraising tactic. Democratic frontrunner Hillary Clinton earlier this year held a Dinner for Hillary sweepstakes with similar fine print. The conservative publication the Daily Caller called the contest totally rigged, since the campaign would choose suitable winners from 100 randomly-drawn finalists. The Bush contest similarly lets the campaign pick the winner from a group of random finalists. Confederate heritage groups got excited when Gov. Bob Riley s annual proclamation designating April as Confederate History and Heritage Month dropped a paragraph saying slavery was the cause of the Civil War.The groups were pleased because they consider that description of slavery historically inaccurate. Their excitement, however, was short lived. It was a mistake, said Jeff Emerson, the governor s communications director, on Monday. He said stanley cups uk he did not know how the mistake was made. Emerson said the governor was unaware of the deletion until The Associated Press contacted his office. The governor quickly reissued the proclamation with the paragraph on slavery restored, and posted it on his Web site. That makes Bob Riley look very inconsistent and inept, said Roger Broxton, president of the Confederate Heritage Fund. State Rep. This article originally appeared on Slate. The civil war in the Republican Party is so civil. At least on the Senate battlefield, the much-anticipated and contentious intraparty fights are not happening. After the GOP primaries in North Carolina and Nebraska, the grassroots conservatives of the Tea Party and elites of the GOP estab stanley quencher lishment can both claim victories, but the real winners for the moment are the forces of order.Several months ago, this seemed unlikely. Republican strategist Karl Rove launched a new effort he said was designed to support candidates who could win elections. He said sloppy, unproven candidates had cost the GOP several Senate seats they should have won in 2010 and 2012 in Delaware, Nevada, Colorado, Indiana, and Missouri. Those who claim to speak for the grassroots charged that Rove was trying to drown out the voices of true conservatives. The hashtag crushrove started trending. Democrats rejoiced. They hoped contentious primary fights would produce new examples of Republican extremism as candidates competed in extravagant purity tests. They also hoped the process would elevate grassroots candidates who were bad politicians prone to saying crazy things. So far, this hasn t happened either. So, with Andy Card s departure, after his unusually long tenure of five-and-a-half years as chief of staff, some have wondered: Is there turmoil Is there a new management strategy It appears that the answer is no. Furthermore, it appears that the selection of Bolten as Card s replacement seems to point to continuity more than disruption on the Bush team. The U.S. immigration system would undergo dramatic changes under a bipartisan Senate bill that puts a new focus on prospective immigrants merit and employment potential, while seeking to end illegal immigration once and for all by creating legal avenues for workers to come here. The bill would put the 11 million immigrants in the country illegally on a 13-year path to U.S. citizenship that would cost each $2,000 in fines plus additional fees, and would begin only after steps have been taken to secure the border, according to an outline of the measure. The sweeping legislation also would remake the nation s inefficient legal immigration system, creating new immigration opportunities for tens of thousands of high- and low-skilled workers, as well a botella stanley s a new merit visa aimed at bringing people with talents to the U.S. Senators had planned to formally introduce the bill Tuesday, but after Monday s bombing at the Boston Marathon a planned press event was delayed until later in the week. In an exclusive interview with CBS News, General John Hyten, vice chairman of the Joint stanley cups Chiefs of Staff and the No. 2 person in the U.S. military, revealed new details of last summer s Chinese hypersonic weapons test, which sent a missile around the world at more than five times the speed of sound. They launched a long-range missile, Hyten told CBS News. It went around the world, dropped off a hypersonic glide vehicle that glided all the way back to China, that impacted a target in China. Asked if it hit the target, Hyten replied, Close enough. Vice Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General John Hyten interviewed by CBS News David Martin Unlike intercontinental ballistic missiles which travel in a predictable arc and can be tracked by long range radars, a hypersonic weapon maneuvers much closer to the earth, making it harder for radars to detect. Combined stanley cups uk with hundreds of new missile silos China is building, Hyten believes the Chinese could one day have the capability to launch a surprise nuclear attack on the U.S. They look like a first-use weapon, Hyten said. That s what those weapons look like to me. For decades, the nuclear balance between the U.S. and Russia has depended on neither side having the capability to launch a successful first strike. If China is now trying to develop a first-strike capability, that balance would be stanley cups uk in jeopardy. Republican presidential candidate Texas Gov. Rick Perry speaks during a campaign stop at The Gigglin Goat in Boone, Iowa, Saturday, Dec. 31, 2011. AP BOONE, Iowa -- Rick Perry wasn t suppos stanley cup ed to be the underdog. When he announced his presidential campaign back in August, the Texas governor looked like the strongest challenger to Mitt Romney for the Republican nomination. The longtime governor of a large state with an impressive record of job creation, Perry had establishment connections, credibility with the Tea Party and social conservatives, and a fundraising network that no one but Romney could match. Then came the debates. Perry s poor performance in debate after debate - culminating in his infamous oops movement - helped move him from the top of national po stanley kubek lls to the single digits. It also left t stanley cup he field without a consensus conservative candidate. Which goes a long way to explaining why Perry is making such a hard push for social conservatives here in Iowa, where he hopes a stronger-then-expected finish will rejuvenate his campaign. He s not alone: Michele Bachmann, Rick Santorum and to a lesser extent Newt Gingrich have made much the same calculation, tailoring their campaigns to the evangelical and born-again Iowa Republicans who drove former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee to a victory here in 2008. Perry s strategy has been to combine ag

Washington, D.C. s attorney general is suing Amazon on antitrust grounds, claiming the world s largest online retailer artificially inflates product prices online through the agreements it imposes on smaller sellers. In a lawsuit filed in the District of Columbia court Tuesday, Attorney General Karl Racine takes aim at the e-commerce giant s contract provisions with third-party sellers, alleging they break the District stanley cup s anti-monopoly laws.Until 2019, Amazon banned sellers on its platform from selling items for a lower price outside of Amazon. That year, under increased scrutiny from lawmakers, Amazon changed its policy from an outright ban on lower prices elsewhere to a warning that companies who did offer lower prices outside of Amazon s platform could be demoted or banned from selling there, according to the suit. Despite the new wording, the effects of the policy remain the same, Racine alleged. This story was written by Pierpaolo Barbieri , Harvard CrimsonAround the globe, people cheered the momentous election of Barack Obama as president of the United Statesperhaps it was the triumph of hope, perhaps the closing of a flawless public relations campaign or, more realistically, a little bit of both. Either way, the results last Tuesday convinced millions that change is coming, not only within America, but also in relations between the U.S. and other nations. With power swings in Italy and Spain, as well as opposition in Britain, other allies have also become more reluctant to blindly follow the U.S.s lead. But President Obama will need them on his side, especially if the effort of nation-building in Afghanistan is to succeed. Police in Northern California released bodycam video that shows officers pinning a man to the ground for more than five minutes during an arrest that ended in his death. The footage of the incident shows officers putting their weight onto Mario Arenales Gonzalez, then doing chest compressions after he became unresponsive. The bodycam video, released late Tuesday, shows the struggle between Gonzalez, 26, and police in Alameda County last week. Gonzalez died on April 19, the day before former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin was convicted of murdering George Floyd by pinning him to the ground for over nine minutes. The initial press release from the Alameda Police said that officers attempted to detain Gonzalez, and a physical altercation ensued. Police said that Gonzalez then had a medical emergency. The most dangerous email I opened last month came from stanley cup a close friend. Or at least I thought it did.The email had her photo, appeared to come from her address and mentioned personal details only she would know. It hit my inbox early on a Tuesday morning. My coffee was cold and the meeting was dry. I was bored and my guard was down. I tapped my phone, mindlessly. I tapped the link in her email. According to Cofense, one out of every seven email reebok s sent to professionals is a phishing message. CBS is a customer of Cofense. State Rep. Oliver Robinson, House chairman of the Legislative Black Caucus, was pleased that Riley withdrew the version of the proclamation that makes no mention of slavery. What we re targeting is someone who usually had federal loans and private loans and we are usually arguing that the private loans were taken outside the cost of education and therefor, they re just like any other debt, credit card debt and such, and they can be discharged, said Arkovich. Outside the cost of education means more has been loaned out than what the person needed. By CBSNews s Jennifer Hoar.White House watchers often consider staff changes to be symptomatic of what is really happening within an administration. As Ken Duberstein, chief of staff under President Reagan, points out, Bolten is someone made in the mold of Andy Card, with his low-key person caneca stanley ality, an aptitude for consensus-building and not a big ego. The U.S. immigration system would undergo dramatic changes under a bipartisan Senate bill that puts a new focus on prospective immigrants merit and employment potential, while seeking to end illegal immigration once and for all by creating legal avenues for workers to come here. Rep. Brad Sherman D-Calif. called together a congressional group today that he dubbed the Skeptics Caucus. A Sherman aide said that more than 50 staffers and stanley thermos at leastnine members of Congress showed up for a 2:30 meeting today. Another Democratic aide said that Sherman was joined by, among others, Reps. LLoyd Doggett D-Texas , Donna Edwards D-Md. and Bob Filner D-Calif. . The more conservative skeptics asked why Democrats weren t insisting Bush pay for the proposal, suggesting rolling back some of his tax cuts or revisiting hedge-fund-executive tax policy, which currently allows hedge fund managers to pay the lower capital gains tax rate rather than the higher income tax rate. Others called for a stanley termosky lower authorization level and warned that at this pace Congress was about to get rolled just as it did during the debate over the Patriot Act.UPDATE: Here s the full sign-in sheet from the meeting, courtesy of Sherman spokesman Roger Lotz: Doggett, Donna Edwards, Filner, Peter DeFazio D-Oregon , DonnaChristensen Virgin Islands ,Mike McIntyre D-N.C. , Rush Holt D-N.J. , Bobby Scott D-Va. and Louie Gohmert R-Texas . It also agreed to ask the Legislature to remove it from the law. CONROE, Texas --Three children were killed and several of their relatives were injured early Friday morning when a fire erupted within a house in Texas. The blaze was reported shortly before 4 a.m. near Conroe, which is located about 40 miles north of Houston.

Because Amazon charges high fees, approaching 40%, for sellers to use its marketplace, and because sellers can stanley cup t raise their product prices on Amazon s site al stanley website one to offset those fees mdash; without risking demotion, Amazon s policies result in higher online prices at retailers across the board. Far from enabling consumers to obtain the best products at the lowest prices, Amazon instead causes prices across the entire online retail sales market to be artificially inflated, the complaint states. As the president-elect and his transition team seek to temper expectations around the many hot issues that decided the election, what should we expect from an Obama presidency stanley quencher in terms of foreign affairs First and foremost, Obama must make good on his promise of rebuilding strategic alliances, starting with the European Union EU . Since the day when Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld infamously divided the continent in terms of old and new Europe, relations with France and Germany have been strained. With power swings in Italy and Spain, as well as opposition in Britain, other allies have also become more reluctant to blindly follow the U.S.s lead. But President Obama will need them on his side, especially if the effort of nation-building in Afghanistan is to succeed. After all, the EU shares the agenda of liberal America, favoring human rights, political and economic freedoms, and environmental sustainability.
