New York City restaurants that want to offer outdoor dining must use a structure where two sides are open for airflow, according to updated directives from city and state officials. If the structure has only one open side, or no open sides, it is considered an indoor dining area and may not be used for dining, guidelines released late Thursday state. Sides are not considered open if covered in clear stanley cup plastic or other material restricting air flow. When first introduced, the guidelines banned customers dining outdoors from going inside a restaurant to use the restroom. New York officials quickly reversed that mandate Friday. Still, the two-sides rule is the latest challenge this year for ailing NYC restaurant owners, many of whom have depended on outdoor seating to keep their business afloat during the coronavirus pandemic. Restaurants nationwide are using tents and other structures to let customers dine together without having to be indoors, where the virus may spread more easily. The New York City Hospitality Alliance criticized the guidelines, arguing that they unfairly single out restaurants and make it hard for delivery workers to bring orders into an establishment. Two 19-year-old hikers who went winter camping were rescued near Eugene, Oregon, by the U.S. Coast Guard after signaling for help by writing an SOS sign in the snow, officials said. The health and safety of all Americans must be the first priority, especially right now, first lady Melania Trump said in a statement. I deeply regret this cancellation, but we need to make difficult decisions in the short-term to ensure a healthy country for the long-term. The first lady urged Americans to follow the guidance of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and local and state officials. The spread of the coronavirus, with more than 3,700 reported cases in the U.S., has led public health officials to prohibit large gatherings. Major sports leagues including the NBA and NHL have suspended their seasons, and some of the country s largest cities and states have shuttered schools, bars and restaurants. The CDC issued guidance Sunday recommending gatherings of more than 50 people be canceled or postponed for the next eight weeks.According to the White House, the Easter Egg Roll dates back to 1878, when Rutherford B. Hayes was president. There was a lapse in egg rolls from 1917 to 1920 and again from 1943 to 1945 due to World War I and World War II. There were also no ce Wovh Rep. We re very grateful that they went ahead and kept the name, said Piestewa s mother, Percy Piestewa. It s an honor and it s very humbling. It s awesome. Many American Indians found the old name offensive and had been trying to change it for years, but critics called the change a heavy-handed political move by Gov. Janet Napolitano s administration. Yost said supporters on the board felt that Piestewa py-ES -tuh-wah symbolizes everyone who has died in the line of duty, while opponents argued that she didn t have a direct association with the mountain and is not of regional or national prominence. The federal board requires a five-year wait before it will name geographic feature on maps and other federal publications after the dead, partly to let emotions on the question cool down. But Yost said the five years since Piestewa s death didn t do much to cool down hundreds of Arizonans.

On Thursday, the justices didn t explain their decision. The administration s ban puts it in the unusual position of arguing against gun rights groups. President Trump said last year that the government would move to ban bump stocks. The action followed a 2017 shooting in Las Vegas in which a gunman attached bump stocks to assault-style rifles he used to shoot concertgoers from his hotel room. By using the devices, which allow shots to be fired more rapidly, the gunman was able to fire more than 1,000 rounds in 11 minutes. The Trump administration s move was an about-face for the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. Those on a placebo lost about 2.1% of their body weight. The findings come after over three years of study by the drug manufacturer. Previously, 72-week findings were published in the New England Journal of Medicine in 2022. Obesity is a chronic disease that puts nearly 900 million adults worldwide at an increased risk of other complications such as type 2 diabetes, said Dr. Jeff Emmick, senior vice president of product development at Eli Lilly. Tirzepatide reduced the risk of developing type 2 diabetes by 94% and resulted in sustained weight loss over the three-year treatment period. These data reinforce the potential clinical benefits of long-term therapy for people living with obesity and pre-diabetes. Presidential historian Jon Meacham, who wrote a best-sellingbiography of former President George H.W. Bush, was one of four people chosen to eulogize Mr. Bush at his funeral at the National Cathedral in Washington, D.C. Here is a transcript of his remarks:The story was almost over even before it had fully begun. Shortly after dawn on Saturday, September 2, 1944, Lieutenant Junior Grade George Herbert Walker Bush joined by two crewmates took off from the USS San Jacinto to attack a radio tower on Chichijima. As they approached the target, the air was heavy with flack. T mizuno he plane was hit. Smoke filled the airmax cockpit. Flames raced across the wings stanley cup . My God, Lieutenant Bush thought, This thing s going to go down. Yet he kept the plane in its 35-degree dive, dropped his bombs, and then roared off out to sea telling his crewmates to hit the silk.Following protocol, Lieutenant Bush turned the plane so they could bail out. Only then did Bush parachute from the cockpit. The wind propelled him backward and he gashed his head on the tail of the plane as he flew through the sky. He plunged deep into the ocean, bobbed to the surface, and flopped onto a tiny raft. His head bleeding, his eyes burning, his mouth and throat raw from saltwater, the future 41st President of the United States was alone. Sensing that his men had not made it, he was overcome. He felt the weight of responsibility as a nearly physical burden and he wept. Then, at four minutes sh

Fifty-eight people were killed and hun stanley cup dreds were injured. In February, the FBI shared it found no discernible motive for the deadliest shooting in U.S. history. The Trump administration s move was an about-face for the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. In 2010, under the Obama administration, the ATF found that the devices were legal. But under the Trump administration, officials revisited that determination and found it incorrect. If you have gone to the pump recently, perhaps you have noticed the sticker price of gas dropping each day. Across the country, the average price for a gallon of gas has fallen for 76 straight days, the second-longest streak on record dating back to 2005.It was less than three months ago when the average price of a gallon of gas nationally was $5.02, the highest number on record. Today, that number is much lower: $3.84, as of August 31. According to AAA, and those who understand the oil industry, it will likely continue to drop. Sixty percent of that price is based off what crude oil stanley cup is going for, said Skyler McKinley of AAA Colorado. We have seen crude oil plummet significantly in the past several months and stanley cup that has been tied to the decrease in gas prices. Crude oil is a raw natural resource that is taken from the earth and then refined into usable fuel like gas. SAN FRANCISCO -- California continues to far outpace the rest of the nation in charter school enrollment and growth, a study released Wednesday shows. The National Alliance for Public Charter Schools reported that 87 new charter schools opened in California this school year, more than in any other state. The new schools bring the number of charter institutions to 1,184. The states with the next highest number of charter schools, Florida and Arizona, have 653 and 623 each.Twenty-eight of the new charter schools are located within the skechers boundaries of the Los Angeles Unified S adidas samba og chool District, which already had 241 -- the most of any school district in California -- in 2013, according to the California Charter Schools Association.Charter schools, which have been allowed in California since 1992, are independently run public schools often started by community groups that operate under agreements with local or state education agencies giving them more latitude in staffing, instruction and evaluation decisions. Like private or specialized public school magnet programs, parents apply to send their children to charter air max 1 schools instead of having them automatically assigned based on where they live. Because charter schools still receive public funding but don t have to follow all the same rules that traditional public schools do, teachers unions and some school districts have sometimes complained that they unfairly undermine neighborhood schools. The cha
