As part of the plea agreement, Aldrich repeatedly admitted on Tuesday to evidence of hatred. The admission that these were hate crimes is important to the government, and its important to the community of Club Q, said prosecutor Alison Connaughty.By targeting Club Q, the shooter attacked a place that was much more than a bar, Connaughty added. Former Delaware Republican Senate candidate Christine O Donnell Rob Carr Updated: 2:24PM ETI stanley cups uk n remarks during a Virginia Tea Party appearance on Tuesday, former Delaware Senate candidate Christine O Donnell called the recent extension of unemployment benefits a tragedy, which she likened to the bombing of Pearl Harbor and the death of Elizabeth Edwards. stanley cups uk Today marks a lot of tragedy, O Donnell said. Tragedy comes in threes. Pearl Harbor, Elizabeth Edwards s passing and Barack Obama s announcement of extending the tax cuts, which is good, but also extending the unemployment benefits. The reason I say this is a tragedy is because his announcement of economic recovery was more of a potpourri of sound bytes, O Donnell continued. It s like he took a little bit of what each party wanted and put it together. It s not a solid plan constructed on sound economic principles. When questioned by reporters about her use of the word tragedy, O Donnell backtracked, saying the tragedy to which she had meant to refer was a flaw in Mr. Obama s logic. If we re going to extend the jobless benefits we have got to cut spending programs, and that s the flaw in his announcement, she said, according to the Hill. That s the tragedy. Stories of the sequester s effect are easily found in all corners of the country -- researchers in North Carolina have lost their jobs, Georgia s tourism sector has taken a hit, and Meals on Wheels the program that brings meals to the elderly has been cut in Maine. The widespread economic constriction that some predicted has yet to take effect for various reasons. To start with, Congress reduced the level of cuts that will take place this year when they delayed the start of the sequestration. Congress also gave federal agencies some flexibility over how to implement the cuts, allowing them to mitigate the impacts. Many argued that Obama should set an example by getting the dog from a shelter instead of looking to a breeder. Obama addressed the puppy question in his first press conference as president-elect today. Noting that the debate over what sort of dog her should get had generated major discussion on his Web site, the president-elect jokingly called it a major issue. We have two criteria that have to be reconciled, Obama said. One is that [daughter] Malia is allergic so it has to be hypoallergenic. Obama added that while many breeds are hypoallergenic, he would prefer to adopt a dog from a shelter. The problem A lot of shelter dogs are mutts, like me, Obama said. Talks of climate change often spur thoughts of a far-off dystopia for future generations. But a new report shows that climate change is already damaging stanley cup the very foundations of our health and well-being mdash; and that governments are not doing enough to prevent it from getting substantially worse. There is no safe global temperature rise from a stanley cup health perspective, and additional warming will affect every U.S. region, said the report, published by medical journal The Lancet. ...All of us have been or likely will be affected by climate change, with some hazards more easily recognizable than others. Droughts, extreme heat and wildfires are among the most visible and widely-discu stanley cup ssed threats, as they cause immediate devastation and fuel future implications, such as rising sea levels. In the U.S. last year, the journal pointed out, there were a record-breaking 22 weather and climate disasters that each caused over $1 billion in damage and more than $95 billion in total losses. Climate change makes existing problems worse as climate-linked events interact with other stressors to threaten lives, undermine population health and stress health systems, the report says. The immediate effects of these weather events are drastic and dangerous, but it is also the more subtle impacts these events cause that take a serious, and disproportionate, toll on human health. The number of pregnant women in the United States infected with Zika virus is suddenly tripling, due to a change in how the government is counting cases.Previously, officials had reported how many pregnant women had both Zika symptoms and positive blood tests. In a change announced Friday, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention will count all women who tested positive -- regardless of whether they showed symptoms. There are now 157 pregnant women infected with Zika in the 50 states, up from 48 cases last week. Another 122 pregnant women with Zika have been reported in U.S. territories including Puerto Rico. ugg But those numbers may still underestimate the true extent of the problem. Only pregnant women who are tested for Zika virus infection are included, thereby potentially underestimating the prevalence of infection and outcomes among all pregnant women, the CDC nike dunk said in the report. Some states are also adidas originals not included in the current report, so there may be missed cases. CHICAGO - A federal judge in Chicago rej nike dunk ected a proposed $75 million class-action head injury settlement with the NCAA on Wednesday, portraying the deal as too unwieldy and potentially underfunded and urging both sides to go back to the drawing board.Under the proposal, the NCAA would toughen return-to-play rules for players with concussions and create a $70 million fund to test current and former athletes in contact and non-contact sports for brain trauma. It also would set aside $5 million for research. The first-of-its-kind deal was designed to settle a host of class-action suits accusing the NCAA of failing to protect athletes against head trauma. Human trafficking is a federal crime and also illegal in every state. It is not clear how the U.S. would handle the case of an Afghan evacuee found guilty of child trafficking. The Associated Press was first to publish a story Friday that U.S. authorities were looking into reports that in the chaos of the evacuation, there were older men who were admitted into the U.S. or transit countries with young girls that they had claimed as brides and that some of the girls were sexually abused. The AP reported there were cases among the evacuated in Wisconsin and the UAE. Fort McCoy, in western Wisconsin, is the military base temporarily housing about 8,800 Afghan evacuees, the largest population of Afghan evacuees in the U.S. In the next few days, its capacity will be expanded to accommodate 13,000, according to two sources familiar with the operations. A farmer in New Zealand packed up his semi-automatic firearm Monday and surrendered it to police. The weight of the terror attacks on two mosques in New Zealand and the thought of what could happen if the gun fell into the wrong hands made John Hart voluntarily turn in his firearm, he said. WASHINGTON 鈥?Over the last two years, you have heard a lot about the Centers for Disease Control, the nation s top authority on diseases and outbreaks. President Trump s former chief strategist and now-Breitbart News chairman, Steve Bannon, is going to be taking aim at the Republican Senate majority leader in his war for Trump outside the White House. Some observers have made the case f stanley spain or their favorite breeds, while others said the president-elect should seek out a mutt. Major U.S. gunmakers marketing a weapon used in a number of mass shootings have tallied more than $1 billion in revenue from selling the firearms to civilians during the past 10 years, according to a report released on Wednesday.Five manufacturers mdash; Daniel Defense, Smith Wesson, Sturm Ruger, Sig Sauer and Bushmaster Firearms stanley cup mdash; collectively sell thousands of military-style semiautomatic rifles to civilians every year, according to the findings of the House Committee on Oversight and Reform. The marketing of AR-15s has come under scrutiny from lawmakers and gun safety advocates following several mass shootings that involved the firearm, including theUvalde shooting that left 19 children and 2 teachers dead. The shootings have renewed calls for regulations that would either ban or restrict sales of AR-15s, with a recent complaint alleging the firearms are marketed to teens and young men who are attracted to violence and military fantasies. However, you have also likely heard a lot of controversy regarding the agency during both the Trump and Biden administrations.
