Surgeon General Vivek Murthy thinks many children are signing onto social media networks at ages far too young for the platforms. I, personally, based on the data I ve seen, believe that 13 is too early, Murthy said on CNN. It s a time where it s really important for us to be thoughtful about what s going into how they think about their own self-worth and their relationships and the skewed and often distorted environment of social media often does a disservice to many of those children. The U.S. has a long history of early voting and voting by mail. Early voting skyrocketed in 2020 amid the pandemic, stanley botella but this year, Americans are still taking advantage of these options.Michael McDonald, a professor of political science at the University of Florida, says that with the election 19 days away, about 1 million Americans are voting every day, and that daily number will only go up as Nov. 5 gets closer. We re running at a clip that s higher than 2016, and it s lower than 2020, but that s what we would expect at this point in time, because the conditions of the elections have just changed so much, he said.Traditionally, Democrats have been more likely to vote early. But this year, the Republican Party is promoting it, and that appears to be encouraging more GOP voters to cast their ballots ahead of Nov. 5.Eight states and D.C. are all vote-by-mail jurisdictions, and those places will give us the earliest indications of voter turnout. Typically, we see upwards of 90% to 95% of the ballots returned to election officials by that weekend before the election, McDonald said. Once we know what tu stanley becher rnout is going to be stanley cup in those states, we can start looking elsewhere and project what we think the overall turnout will be nationwide. The judge overseeing the long-running racketeering and gang prosecution against rapper Young Thug and others has been removed from the case after two defendants sought his recusal, citing a meeting the judge held with prosecutors and a state witness.Fulton County Superior Court Chief Ju stanley cups uk dge Ural Glanville had put t stanley cups he case in Atlanta on hold two weeks ago to give another judge a chance to review the defendants motions for recusal. Judge Rachel Krause on Monday granted those motions and ordered the clerk of court to assign the case to a different judge. While not faulting Glanville for holding the meeting and saying she has no doubt that Judge Glanville can and would continue presiding fairly over this matter, Krause wrote that the necessity of preserving the public s confidence in the judicial system weighs in favor of excusing Judge Glanville from the case. This ruling will surely cause more delays in a trial that has already dragged on for over a year. The Biden administration s Equal Employment Opportunity Commission has updated federal LGBTQ+ workplace guidelines on harassment to include sexual orientation and gender identity, making it the first update of its kind since 1999. Human Rights Campaign said they praised the new EEOC guidance, and say the updates now align with the Supreme Court s landmark 2020 Bostock v. ClaytonCounty decision, which came after an employer allegedly fired a longtime employee simply for being homosexual or transgender, the ruling stated. The 11th Circuit Court had said Title VII, used in that case, didn t prohibit an employer from firing an employee for being gay. The Supreme Court ultimately ruled that Title VII protects LGBTQ+ employees. The White House said that the EEOCs l stanley cup atest guidance makes clear that sex-based harassment, which is already prohibited under fede stanley uk ral law, includes mistreatment on the basis of sexual orientation or gender identity. The Biden administration believes the updates will better allow LGBTQ+ people to use legal protections in cases of physical assault, forced outing or intentional misgendering. The updates in guidance are also expected to affect access to bathrooms and other facilities that are segregated by sex. Human Rights Campaign President Kelley Robinson said, mistreatment can vary greatly, and it s especially prevalent in the form of intentional misgendering or deadnaming for transgender and nonbinary people.
