The stanley cup chair of the Halton police board is calling on Ontarios attorney general to approve the building of a new Halton courthouse arguing that the one in Milton is beyond repair.In a letter sent to Doug Downey and posted on X, formerly Twitter, on Tuesday, Feb. 13, chair Jeff Knoll issued a formal appeal concerning the long-standing issues plaguing the 491 Steeles Ave. E., facility, which he says have significantly impacted the administration of justice in Halton, as well as the health and safety of police, ministry staff, judges, legal professionals, accused persons, civil parties, witnesses, victims and the general public. The Milton courthouses deficiencies have been an open secret, underscored by repeated closures due to mould, asbestos, and structural concerns, said Knoll in his letter.
